New Game Still Coming!

Okay, so a while back we told you about a new game that will be coming to PrimeTime soon. Well, it's still coming! These things take time, and I know you can't wait, but it will be here soon. Yeah, not to mention a few others.

For example: Pop It For Gold Extreme. Here's how it works: You swipe your card, and the spinner spins. Press the button to stop the spinner on a high ticket value. The closer you are to the red zone, the more tickets you get. But wait, what about that huge balloon? As you win tickets, the game adds air to the massive balloon. The more tickets you win, the more air is added. When the balloon finally pops, you win the jackpot! Sounds like fun right? That's because it is!

Personally, I can't wait for the new games to get here!

I am happy to announce the near arrival of a new game for you to enjoy. It's called BarberCut, and it's manufactured by Namco.

Here's how it works. Prizes are hung be a string. Players manuever the scissors and try to cut the string. If you cut the string and the prize falls, its yours! What kind of prizes can you expect? Well, I'm glad you asked. Anything from DVDs, to video games, to iPods, maybe even a PS3 of xBox 360.

Don't forget that PrimeTime is a great place to watch football games. Me personally, I have rabbit ears on my TV. So that means no Monday night football (since it shows on ESPN). I love working Monday nights though! We have seven 42" HDTVs over our lanes, and two more 32" HDTVs in our snack bar seating area. Like to play pool or shuffleboard? We also have a 32" HDTV in the billiard room.

Spring Broke

The title says it all. Spring broke. (It should be broken) Anyways, Spring Break One and Spring Break Two were two weeks that were incredibly busy for PrimeTime. THANKS! It was so busy that it broke our blog. Broken in the sense that nobody had time to write a new blog. But hey, you were too busy playing to read a blog anyway.

Again, thanks for everyone that spent some of their break at PrimeTime. We always enjoy your presence.

True Bowling vs. Wii Bowling

Recently I read an article in Bowling Center Management that compared and contrasted virtual bowling on a Wii and going to a bowling center for actual bowling. It was interesting enough to create this post, so here we go...

The article breaks the debate down into a few different areas, beginning with the physical aspect of each. Believe it or not, Wii bowling burns aproximately 3.9 calories per minute. Not bad for playing video games! On the other hand, when you head to PrimeTime to bowl, you will burn about 7.2 calories per minute. That's 432 calories per hour. Nice! Of course, it's not like running or cycling, but burning 432 calories while bowling... psh, count me in!

When debating Wii bowling vs. true bowling, it's important to note the social aspect. Head to PrimeTime and bowling with many others, it's way better than sitting by the TV alone. Think about this: say you begin a game at PrimeTime with nine strikes. The center gets quiet and all eyes are on you. Do you think you would feel the same if you nailed nine strikes in a row at home on the Wii?

I'm not saying don't bowl on your Wii. I'm just saying don't be satisfied with it. Let Wii bowling kindle a fire inside of you that leads you to PrimeTime for some real bowling (man, that sounds so inspirational).

The article I read said 7.2 calories per minute, but I think that may be a little high.

St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's Day is the official national holiday of Ireland celebrating Saint Patrick, one of the patron saints of the country. American's and Australians celebrate Saint Paddy's not because they are Irish, but because they probably wish they were! First celebrated in 1761 in Boston, the United States has joined in the tradition of the holiday.

Of course, we all know what St. Patrick's Day really is: a great day to go to PrimeTime to have a good time! (Check out St. Pat to the right. He looks like he may be related to St. Nick.)

Some Springs Just Need A Break

Well, it's getting to be that time of year again. I think we have reached the 90s twice now, so ya know what that means. Spring Break is right around the corner. Yep, it's next week.

Every Spring Break I am reminded of a simpler time in my life. Alas, the college years. One Spring Break in particular, my buddies and I decided to go wakeboarding at one of the area lakes. That is when I realized that one or two hot days really don't do anything for water temperature. Yeah, amazingly cold that water was, but it didn't matter. Why didn't it matter, well, simply because we were crazy. Even with the frigid water, we had a blast wakeboarding and swimming in the lake.

So what's the point? The point is, even though you might have fun going to the lake this Spring Break, the water is still going to be cold. So, don't risk it. Head out to PrimeTime instead. We are going to have a blast!

Brrr.... Go-Karts Anyone?

It sure is hard to sell go-kart rides when the daily high temperature is only 27 degrees. Yikes, what is this, Michigan? Well, here at PrimeTime we do understand that some of you are crazy enough to want to ride the go-karts in this type of extreme weather, but we also hope that you understand that we aren't crazy enough to open the go-karts in this extreme weather. Yeah, there was once a day when I was crazy enough to want to go out and get my face nice and icy, but alas, I have grown out of that. I'm not saying that is a good thing; I'm just saying.

The Best Trade Show Ever

Industries all have their own trade shows. Ya know, a time to show off all of the new products for businesses in the industry. Restaurants have food shows. Auto dealerships have car shows. Family Entertainment Centers have a few different shows. One in particular is produced by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA). This show showcases anything from the latest roller coasters, to the newest video games, and everything in between.

Back in November, I was lucky enough to attend the 2008 IAPPA trade show. It was pretty incredible. First off, I have never been to a big trade show, so this was a nice first dose. But, there was one spectacle that was the most impressive: The Three Story Carousel that was in the middle of the convention center. I'm not sure who would have $750,000 to $1M to blow, or exactly who would want this three story monster, but man, it sure was cool to see.

The second coolest thing about the IAPPA show is all the new arcade games that are coming out. Yeah, Guitar Hero the arcade game... it's gonna rock. There is this Harley Davidson road racing game that is pretty sweet. And let's not forget the new Rambo game. I doubt you will see that one here at PrimeTime, but who knows about the other two.

Overall, we had a great time at IAPPA, and can't wait for next year's show.

What Is That Under There?

Really, what is that under there? ----I just made you say (or think) underware. Pretty lame joke, I know (slow-motion lame).

Speaking of 'under,' have you seen our Under The Sea party room? If you haven't you are missing out. Our favorite party room, by far, is decorated to make you think you are actually under the sea. Think fish, shells, and coral everywhere. Its great. Such an adventure. In addition to all of the UTS decor, we have also thrown in some Christmas lights, just to top everything off. I know, we live on the edge here at the ol' PT.

So, when your birthday rolls around, go ahead and have your party in the UTS room. You won't be disappointed. Make sure you book it in advance though, because people love this room.

Wanna Go Fast?

Have you experienced the go-karts at Prime Time? Well, have you experienced them since we turned up the speed? Yeah, they go a lot faster now. Yeah, they are a lot more fun now. Yeah, pretty incredible. But wait, there is a catch. You gotta have a valid drivers license to go fast. (Sorry kiddos).

The price is the same, but the cars are much, much faster. Yeah, that's good lookin' out. When you come to Prime Time, we want you to have as much fun as you can, but in a safe way. That's why you have to have the drivers license to go fast.

So how was your Thanksgiving? As for me, let's just put it this way: I definitely had to go up one pants size. Okay, so not really, but you get the picture. All of us probably eat more than we should during the holidays, but who's counting right? I do know one thing, you can burn around 150 calories per hour while bowling. Bowling Or Mini Golf

Tonight is the night we have all be waiting for. Tonight is the night that will chart our future. Tonight is the eve of a major question being answered. As I sit here, I ponder what is to come as we make a decision that will change the world. This decision is only made once every four years, and rightfully so judged by the weight of the issue. The question: Bowling, or Mini Golf?

Let's review the candidates:

Bowling

It seems like good ol' Bowling has been around forever. Of course, Bowling has seen its better days, but hey, it's making a comeback. Just knock down all of the pins and you are on your way to a win. Much technique is required.

Mini Golf

The relative new kid on the block. While Bowling has been around for ages, Mini Golf was first documented in 1912. The idea is simple. Hit the ball in the hole using fewer strokes than your opponent. Make sure and study your course wisely.

These two candidates are pretty easy to understand. They are straight shooting and transparent. What you see is what you get. They aren't going to twist their words, and they won't break their promises. Well, because they can't talk, and they can't promise. I know it is very difficult to chose, but really, either way you go, it's a win-win situation.

Fall Feast... Well, Fest That Is.

Man, I am starving. Nothing makes me more hungry than when I think about Thanksgiving and Fall Feasts. Ah, you just start getting images in your head of Cornacopia's overflowing with food. Yum, yum. I can't wait for the Fall Feast that we are having at PrimeTime. Whew, it's going to be great. I bet they will have some good ol' turkey, and some delicious dressing. Wait, wait a sec'. Oh... Scratch that. PrimeTime is having a Fall Fest, which must be short for Fall Festival. Dang, I guess that means there won't be tables and tables of food. But hey, this flyer does say that there will be hours and hours of fun. Three hours of fun to be exact! Boo @ the Zoo

Are you ready for a spooky good time? What about buckets and buckets full of candy? Mmmm, cavities... Speaking of cavities, we would like to take this time to recommend good oral hygiene. Let's keep this nice and painless, okay?

(1) To prevent bad breath. Really, I think we can all come together on this one for obvious reasons.

(2) To prevent tooth decay. Do you want to eat baby food when you are 70? I sure don't.

(3) To prevent gum disease. Have you ever seen gum disease? It just looks painful.

(4) To prevent dental work. I know I said there would be only three, but this one just makes since. Dental work is expensive. Brush your teeth=less money you have to spend at the dentist.

Is That Wedding Bells I Hear?

Back on the eighth of August, PrimeTime experienced yet another first (after all, we are still in our first year of business). That first was the wedding of Dejah and Glen McCorkle. It was a pleasure to host this important and memorable event for the McCorkles. After the exchanging of the vows, the couple danced their first dance to "Heaven" by DJ Sammy. Unfortunately, I was out of town during this event, but I am sure the two then proceeded to our Dance Dance Revolution Supernova game for their second dance. I don't know this for a fact, but what I do know is that Glen can shred on that game for sure.

Mess With The PT, Get Burned!

Late the other night, we had some customers that decided it would be a good idea to skip out on their bowling tab without paying. Well of course, these actions will not be tolerated. What you say? Did we call the police. Well of course we did! We called the PrimeTime Justice Police. Of course they are like the real police, except the PTJP doesn't have to obey the law. You heard me correctly. Anything goes with these fellas. They are a member of JSOC, and you don't want to mess with them. After making the call, the task force arrived promptly. We told them the story, and they immediately tracked down the suspects, who were still in the parking lot. The sent the tab skippers in to do the dishes and empty the trash, meanwhile, the PTJP decided to make an example out of this group. With full backing of the government, they proceed to take the thief's car to the back of PrimeTime and set it aflame. Can you smell the sweet smell of justice? Mmmm, it smells good.

Okay, here's what really happened:
The car owner was coming to his weekly Kiwanis meeting here in the PrimeTime banquet facilities. As he pulled around to the back of the building, the car backfired. He immediately smelled something burning, and the smoke came bellowing out from under the hood; his car was on fire! After quickly removing a few personal items, he notified the PrimeTime staff. Pat Landers quickly grabbed a fire extinguisher and went to work. Although the fire was under control, it was not going out. This was a job for the Abilene fire department.

Of course, the story ends happily. Well, unless it was your car the burnt. The fire department did a wonderful job, and it turns out that the owner had full coverage on his Chevette. Ah, another exciting day at PrimeTime.

Welcome to the WWW. This is no virtual playground, where you can shop without even leaving the comfort of your own home. This is not the place you go to check the weather. The economy these days is a pretty interesting thing. It seems like everything is so unpredictable. I don't know if I should go out and buy 100 shares of McDonald's stock, or if I should stuff some cash into a can and bury it in my back yard, and then go to McDonald's and eat. But then again, I can't go to McDonald's to eat because I don't have any gas. Man, those gas prices are coming down, but they have a long way to go before I can fill up my tank. Remember the good ol' days when you could fill up you tank without emptying your wallet? Now the government is stepping in with their bailout plan. Sure, it won't solve everything, but it's going to help, right? I don't know much about the bailout plan, but what I do know is that $700 billion is a lot of money.

Summer has come and gone. Bring on the Fall, the football, and the school. By now, everyone is back in the swing of things and school is in full force. Homework, sports practice, and the daily schedule, but come on out to PrimeTime when you are ready for fun. Before you come, check your clock, because PrimeTime has gone to its fall hours of operation. The current operating hours are as follows:

Mon-Thurs: 3:00p-12:00a
Fri: 3:00p-1:00a
Sat: 10:00a-1:00a
Sun: 11:30a-12:00a

The change is that we are opening at 3:00p on weekdays, instead of the summer opening time of 11:30a.
